funnel-like flowers with pale orange-red faces, midlines and deep orange-red reverses. Flowers are 4 cm. in length and 4.5 cm. in width. Petals are narrow with acute tips. Petal frontal count is 13. Pistil is pale orange red with 7 - 8 white stigma lobes. Filaments are rhodamine with yellow-orange pollen. Filaments curve inward to form a pollen tunnel around the pistil. Apple green, 0.7 cm. ovary has 5 ribs. Note: similar to R, gaertneri with a smaller flower.

Meier 1995: 18; E.B. Hoare Notes: B1-5medium green phylloclades exhibit 4 - 5 areoles, faintly bristled within small rounded crenations per side. Linear areole is semi-rounded with a few bristles.
