zygomorphic, 7.5 cm. long flowers have solid pink-purple petals with darker red-purple margin lines. Petals are elliptical. Foremost anterior petal exhibits a slightly fringed apex. Stigma is carried above the anthers. Pods are smooth, ripening red. Purple-pink buds become more purple with maturity. Stamens have white anteriors, posterior 2/3 of filaments are pinkish purple, style is red, stigma is pinkish purple, temperature sensitive.
