Rhipsalidopsis gaertneri

Description:
Phylloclades flattened, 7 cm long and 2.5 cm wide, apical with brownish bristles. Flowers broadly funnel form, radially symmetrical, up to 5 cm long, scarlet, self-fertile.
Fruits flattened spherical, reddish, ribbed.
Flowering period in northern hemisphere: March to May.

Origin of name:
Namen in Honour of Karl F. Gärtner, the discoverer of the species in Brazil.

Occurence:
Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná) in altitudes between 350 and 1300 m elevation.
