Petal bases and throat white, gradually blending into a light salmon-red flush toward the middle of the petals, with deeper orange-red apexes and margins. Petal tips acute to pointed. The petals become recurved after approximately two days. Floral tube white, very lightly flushed with pale pink. Stigma bright magenta-pink, extending just beyond the cream to pale yellow anther cluster. Ovary receptacle light green.

Named in honor of Helmut Paetzold (1931–2016), a well-known Epiphyllum grower from Berlin, Germany, and a good friend of the hybridizer. The cultivar was presented to him at the Berliner Kakteentage in 2005 during the 75th anniversary celebration of Kakteenverein Berlin. At the same event, Helmut Paetzold was honored by DKG President Barbara Ditsch.
