buds are deep mailbox red opening to vermilion red (cinnabar red). Flower length is 5 cm., width is 6 cm. Oblanceolate petals have pointed tips. Frontal view petal count is 16. Pistil is mailbox red with 6 long white stigma lobes. Filaments are yellowish orange to pale mauve at their tops. Ovary is 0.6 cm., 5 ribbed, funnel to star shape with a deep reddish hue.
