Johnson Cactus Gardens described the flowers as tubular and brilliant violet crimson. Meier described it as orange red. Hoare described this cultivar as having a red center on bright purple. Flower length is 4 cm. width is 3.5 cm. Petals are broad, spatulate with acute to obtuse tips. Frontal view petal count is 10. Ovary is 0.7 cm. bronze red with 5 fluted ribs. EBH described the flower as a nice color with unusual filament arrangement giving the flower a yellow eye appearance.
