long pointed buds open with upper petals pale silvery orange lavender with white bases and centers. Lower petals a sheeny orange tinted lavender with small silvery throats. Tube is silvery white. Stigma lobes number 6 and are spreading. Filaments are all equal length. Petals are twisted with crimped tips. Upper petals are linear lanceolate with long pointed tips. Lower petals are obovate to lanceolate with long acute tips. Flower length 8.5 cm. Upper width 6 cm., lower width 7 cm. Tube length 3.5 cm. Ovary 1 cm. faintly angled, pale amber. Flower form is normal to reverse umbrella. Petal features are unusual. Flowers mid/late June to early August. McM&H description similar, less detailed. |
