bright orange flowers with shorter than normal tubes display uniquely tubular, recurved basal petals. Upper petals are lanceolate with acute apexes. Upper petals vary from tubular or rolled along the bases to normal. Petal bases are white. Stamens are white. A long, dark magenta-red style supports a magenta-pink stigma held well beyond the anthers (unlike 'Happy' with its stunted style buried within the stamens. Buds are orange-pink and show less color change than maturinging buds on 'Happy'. Ovary receptacles are mildly ridged.
Clades sizePhylloclades formReferenceComments
SRL Teamphylloclades are much wider than those of 'Happy'. 'Konpeitou Orange' carries 3-4 small, oddly shaped, talon-like dentations along each margin whereas 'Happy' carries two similar, small, talon-like dentations per margin edge. 'Konpeitou Orange' exhibits many similarities to 'Thor Wild Cactus Orange' and the two are possibly synonymous.
